Canadian Tire Financial Services wanted to increase the use of their Options MasterCard within Canadian Tire stores, so they installed screens at the checkouts and asked Gel to help with the content. Working closely with their marketing department, we created a six-month campaign that included Options MasterCard messages, community information and corporate branding, in-store surveys concluded there was a marked increase in consumer awareness and as an added benefit, perceived wait times were considered lessened.

Web Product Demos

To draw customer attention instore and initiate sales of 12 new summer products, we were asked to script and produce demos on each. In Gel’s cost-effective approach to production, local actors and crew were hired for the marathon shoot, which took place in Victoria, B.C., the only Canadian spot warm enough to showcase outdoor summer products in winter. A part of Canadian Tire’s digital merchandising, media players and TV monitors were placed on designated end caps, to run the appropriate program with the featured product. These demos were further re-purposed, running on their intranet as product knowledge for store associates. The highly-successful promotion ran for 12 weeks in all stores, and included French.

Training Videos

We’ve produced numerous training videos for Canadian Tire, among them this sample whose objective was to educate store staff on how to sell the right-sized bike and how to cross-sell accessories to increase sales. Gel handled all aspects of the production including scripting, talent selection, shooting and editing. After exposure to the video, dealers reported there was a marked increase in sales of bikes and accessories because their staff was better at sizing bikes and enhancing customer service in the department.
